Book review of The Limping Dog by J R Lindermuth

Limping DogIn this taut mystery, insurance investigator TJ Flood unravels a dark secret when he attempts to look into a year-old boating accident that leaves the crew dead. Lindermuth’s impressive pacing is supported by a mysterious female witness that no one can seem to locate, along with a blossoming–albeit strained–relationship between Flood and his romantic interest, Dee, a rising journalist who helps uncover the mystery. Although Dee seems childish at times, the personalities of the characters doesn’t overshadow the plot, rather helps carry it.

When the bodies of two victims–a dirty cop and his helpless wife–are discovered, the tension climaxes, leading readers to an interesting twist that at first may feel contrived but ends up offering a satisfying conclusion.

Lindermuth delivers a solid thriller tale packed with sufficient tension and suspense to grip readers until the end. And, of course, any story with a heroic dog gets an extra thumb’s up!
